Double Double Double Double Double

The Double closed to a sold out weekend and standing ovations! Many thanks to all the people who worked on it and who came out to see it and support. We’re looking forward to bringing it back next year…

Here’s some of what the critics had to say:

“…hysterical…There’s a cabaret atmosphere to the whole production…All this comes to a head in a marvellous quick-change sequence that may owe something to the Marx Brothers’ great mirror scene in Duck Soup; indeed the whole show might be taken as a sustained riff on that classic routine, with the sinister undertones brought to the surface.”
-Robert Cushman, THE NATIONAL POST

Word has it that Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) will be starring in a new film version of Dostoyevsky’s The Double. No need to wait for that—TheatreRUN has already whipped up a wildly entertaining adaptation of the 19th-century Russian classic.”
-Martin Morrow, The GRID TO

“Adam Paolozza, Arif Mirabdolbaghi and Victor Lukawski, along with their design team, create a world of shadows, darkness, frenzy, mystery, insecurity and a touch of madness. They use clowning and music to plumb the darkest depths of the story, and to bring out the humour as well.”
-Lynn Slotkin, The Slotkin Letter

“…a multi-disciplinary powerhouse performance…one of the best pieces of theatre I’ve seen in a while.”
-Adelina Fabiano, Mooney On Theatre

“With the success of Spent last year and now with this stylish and madcap production of The Double, TheatreRUN has established itself as company whose productions you miss at peril to your artistic wellbeing. 4/5 STARS”
-Christopher Hoile, The Stage Door

“Uniquely multi-faceted and not to be missed.”
-Kelly Bedard, My Entertainment World

And here’s what the audience had to say:

“Pure next Level.”

-Charles Ketchabaw

“Existential physical comedy.”

-Maev Beaty

“Floored! I’m not going to stop recommending the Double until I fall asleep! When I saw the shadow play I almost threw up!”

-Devon

“Incredibly in comic spirit of the original novella.”

-Chair Of Slavic Languages, University of Toronto
